Barock Project was born in 2003 and have the goal to match classic music (mainly baroque), rock and a few jazz, substained by a pop structure to renew the beloved Progressive Rock of ’70s.

Barock Project was born in 2003 and have the goal to match classic music (mainly baroque), rock and a few jazz, substained by a pop structure to renew the beloved Progressive Rock of 70s. The head and founder of the project is the keyboard player and composer Luca Zabbini, affected by the passion for the famous keyboardist Keith Emerson (ELP). In the summer of 2004 Giambattista Giorgi, a young bass player, the drummer Giacomo Calabria and the voice of Luca Pancaldi joined to the band.
In January 2007 they performed live in Bologna with a string quartet. The arrangements are made by Zabbini and Rock In Theater is the DVD of the concert. In the end of the same year come out the first album Misteriose Voci under the label Musea Records and in the summer of 2009 the second record, Rebus under the italian label Mellow Records, gained good reviews both.
In March 2012 the french label Musea Records publish their third album Coffee in Neukölln, wrote totally in english.
Was the work which consacrate Barock Project such as Symphonic Prog Rock international band with a nomination to the Prog Awards 2012.
In the same year joined to the band Eric Ombelli(drum) and Marco Mazzuoccolo (guitar) and in 2014 started recording of the fourth and more complex album. At the end of 2014 the bassist Giorgi left the group and Francesco Caliendo took his place.
In January 2015 Barock Project announce the exit of Skyline,edited by Artalia with the help of a fundraising campaign and with partecipation of two big name of prog: Vittorio De Scalzi (New Trolls) and Paul Whitehead (first cover artist of Genesis).
In November of the same year Alex Mari take the place of Luca Pancaldi.
In May 2016 came out the live Vivo,a double cd of two hours of music, recorded during the tour played in 2015.
In March 2017 the sixth album Detachment saw the light, and the band performed in several concerts and festivals such Prog Dreams Festival in Holland and at Symphonic Night Festival at Tsutaya O-East in Tokyo.
In 2018 Barock Project was in tour in Holland, in USA at RosFest festival and one more time in Japan at Tsutaya O-West in Tokyo. The band completes the year with a concert to Auditorium Parco della Musica in Roma.
On August 2019 the band signs with the label Immaginifica by Aereostella and in September the band release the new album Seven Seas.
In February 2021 the band released Barock Project – The Boxset, that include the entire remastered band’s discography in studio.
In 2022 the band resumed concerts in England, participates in the prestigious Night Of The Prog festival in Loreley in Germany and in autumn perform as an opener on the P.F.M. italian tour.
In 2023 the band works again for the production of the new studio album, Time Voyager, out in 2024.

I Barock Project nascono sul finire del 2003 con l’intento di racchiudere la musica classica e sinfonica con il rock ed il jazz. Il fondatore del gruppo è il tastierista e compositore Luca Zabbini, da sempre appassiontato per il famoso tastierista Keith Emerson (E.L.&P.). Durante l’estate del 2004 si uniscono alla band il giovane bassista Gb Giorgi ed il batterista Giacomo Calabria e poco dopo si aggrega il cantante Luca Pancaldi.
Nel Gennaio 2007 si esibiscono già insieme ad un quartetto d’archi, con arrangiamenti scritti da Zabbini, realizzando il DVD Rock In Theater.
Alla fine dello stesso anno, sotto l’etichetta francese Musea, esce sul mercato il primo disco della band, Misteriose Voci, registrato bensì due anni prima.
Nel 2009 vede la luce il secondo album, Rebus, con il quale ottengono già numerose recensioni nel mondo.
A Marzo 2012 l’etichetta Musea pubblica il terzo album della band, Coffee In Neukölln, il primo con testi completamente in inglese.
Con questo album i Barock Project sono consacrati nel panorama internazionale del Symphonic Prog Rock ed entrano in nomination ai Prog Awards del 2012.
Nello stesso anno Calabria abbandona il progetto e subentrano i giovanissimi Eric Ombelli (batteria) e Marco Mazzuoccolo (chitarra elettrica).
Nel 2014 iniziano le registrazioni del quarto album, Skyline. Nel frattempo il bassista Giorgi lascerà il gruppo.
Il disco, che esce nel 2015, è un grande successo internazionale e vanta la partecipazione di due grandi nomi: Vittorio De Scalzi (New Trolls) e la copertina realizzata dal famoso artista Paul Whitehead (note le sue copertine dei Genesis).
A prendere il posto di Giorgi arriva il bassista Francesco Caliendo.
A fine 2015 il cantante Pancaldi lascerà il gruppo e nel 2016 subentrerà Alex Mari.
Nel Maggio 2016 uscirà il primo doppio live album della band, Vivo, il quale racchiude due ore di musica registrata durante i concerti del 2015.
Nel Marzo del 2017 vede la luce il sesto album, Detachment, che apre la strada alla band per concerti e festivals in tutto il mondo, fra i quali il Prog Dreams in Olanda e il Symphonic Night Fest in Giappone.
Nel 2018 i Barock Project sono ancora una volta in tour in Olanda, Inghilterra, Giappone e partecipano al RosFest negli Stati Uniti.
Nel 2019 la band chiude la collaborazione con il vecchio management e firma la distribuzione di un nuovo disco con l’etichetta Immaginifica, rilasciando il settimo disco Seven Seas.
Nel Febbraio 2021 esce il cofanetto Barock Project – The Boxset, che racchiude tutta la carriera discografica della band in versione rimasterizzata.
Dopo la pandemia la band riprende i concerti dall’Inghilterra, partecipa al prestigioso Night Of The Prog Festival di Lorelei in Germania e nell’autunno del 2022 si esibisce come opener ai concerti della tournèe italiana di P.F.M.
Durante il 2023 la band e’ nuovamente al lavoro per registrare il nuovo disco Time Voyager, in uscita nel 2024.
